The Grassroots USA network started in 2003 or thereabouts, and was the first website on the worldwide internet to call itself Grassroots USA. As far as I know, this was the first organization to call itself Grassroots USA.
Grassroots USA began with articles such as researching the hidden motives behind the invasion of Iraq. Grassroots USA hit the nail smack dab on the head by publishing an article which figured out that the big money interests wanted to get to the money in the US Treasury, and make all Americans indebted to whomever was going to get rebuilding contracts. That was before anyone even mentioned the name Halliburton, and close ties with Vice President Dick Cheney, the former Halliburton executive. It was before the news media came up with evidence of backroom closed door meetings in which the deals were made to have no-bid contracts, long before the invasion began.
Before Senator John Kerry spoke in opposition to the invasion, Grassroots USA called it correctly, again, in an article which said that the first major news media coverage of a Democrat to speak against the Iraq invasion plans would go on to become the Democratic candidate for President, but that the candidate to be would intentionally wait until Congress was committed to supporting President Bush’s war plans. So, the motive of whomever spoke up would be to get elected President when Americans realized President Bush steered Congress and America down the wrong path. Sure enough, Senator John Kerry was soon making the headlines, speaking in opposition to the planned invasion from the steps of the Capitol. Of course, it was already too late, as the Executive branch and the military already had invasion plans in place. There was no turning back. One news article we published speculated that Kerry realized he spoke up too late, and that was all part of the plan.
But wait, there’s more. Does anyone else think something was VERY bizarre and VERY rotten upon finding out that both Bush and Kerry were both members of the same secret society, Skull and Bones, at Yale?

By now, more people began to open their eyes in suspicion that bankers, rather than normal Americans who are the true owners of this country, were pulling the strings of the President and Congress. They decide who will be the mainstream media darlings, and what candidates will be ignored.
As other activists from across the country and the world called for a halt to the invasion, in protests, Grassroots USA realized the die was cast, and protesters had a message that was too late. Troops were already on the way. At that point, Grassroots USA put out the call for protesters to change their message to “NO PROTRACTED STAY”. Unfortunately, the protesters never changed their message, and continued to call for No Invasion, even as troops were landing in Kuwait.
Grassroots USA has always had a message of “Support our troops”, Support our troops families, and support our veterans by keeping the promises made to them. A government policy of invading foreign countries which used to be allies, when the country didn’t do as it was told by the State Department is not our idea of supporting the troops or defending America. Admittedly, we were as duped as anyone when Colin Powell claimed that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and planned to use them. Up until this time, Colin Powell had appeared to be a man of honor and truth. Little did we realize that Powell gave his allegiance to his President rather than his country and the constitutional republic he also swore an oath to support. It was a big letdown to realize that a man held in such esteem by so many did not have the moral character Americans believed he had.
The government turned more tyrranical and ignored the demands of Americans, and there was no day more evident of this than when President Bush continued to vacation at his ranch in Crawford and ignored the plight of thousands of people trapped without food, water, or sanitation in New Orleans, for days after Hurricance Katrina. One day stands out as rivaling that, and that is the day when the Patriot Act was signed into law, giving Bush more control, and creating levels of secrecy in government, that Americans would be spied upon. Eventually supporters of rival candidates, such as Ron Paul, not sanctioned by the bankers who really pull the strings in this country, would be subjected to increased surveillance, and put on terrorist watch lists.
In 2007, the primary organizer of Grassroots USA, an avid biker (motorcyclist who rides all the time, and has done so for almost an entire lifteime, to the point where “biker” becomes a way of life) strayed from the duties of managing Grassroots USA in order to dedicate three years to biker rights and the fight against biker discrimination, becoming one of the foremost activists for biker rights in the country, as a member of Bikers of Lesser Tolerance (B.O.L.T.).
In 2008, the organizer of Grassroots USA also became extremely busy with attempting a campaign for state senate. The campaign proved there is no reason political campaigns cannot be run on extremely small shoestring budgets. The results were over 4600 voters, with total expenditures were less than $300, of which $170 or thereabouts went to the state board of elections for filing fees. At the end of the campaign, $200 of left over money from a total budget of $500 was donated to charity. If you do the math, the expense per vote ratio was less than 3 cents per vote. Opposition candidates spent ten times that, and had 100 times that amount available.
As the 2008 elections neared, President George W. Bush, and the US Congress who got America into two costly wars at the same time, and kept our troops in both Afghanistan and Iraq rather than bring them home, crippling our countries economy, announced that Wall Street needed to be bailed out. What had happened was scumbag sub-prime mortgage lenders were approving mortgages for homebuyers who could not afford the loans, and the condition for repayment of the loans included adjustable rate mortgage increases. Wall Street had bought into these mortgage backed securities. Mortgage companies had made windfall profits on their investments, backed by triple AAA bond ratings from Moodys. In 2007, multitudes of homebuyers who financed their mortgages through unscrupulous sub-prime lenders began defaulting on their mortgages as their interest rates increased, and as major corporations outsourced jobs overseas. One day, private financiers showed up at the door of the Executive branch of government and made a demand that the US government go in debt for 700 trillion dollars and that this must be approved within only 3 days. Rather than stand firm against private banks who had gambled and lost, government proved they are just puppets, and the bankers pull the strings.
The organizer of Grassroots USA and TENS OF MILLIONS of Americans called the White House and Congress, instructing them to do their jobs as representatives of the people, and let the gamblers take their losses rather than bail them out. The President and Congress went against the instructions of the people. Soon there was news that corporations declared “too big to fail” were awarding hundreds of millions of dollars to their executives as bonuses, and the Federal Reserve Bank was telling Congress that it is none of their business who was receiving money from them, and that included banks overseas.
The military was instructed to train battalions in order to combat any resistance movement by the citizens. America did not erupt in violent revolt and overthrow the unrepresentative government. Under President Bush, the badly misnamed “Patriot Act”, had already taken many advancements toward turning the United States into a full-fledged tyrannical police state. By 2005, Americans were asking “What happened to the America I loved and was so proud of?” Citizens were told to watch their neighbors for any signs of anarchy or homegrown terrorism.
By 2008, Grassroots USA had a small grassroots of organizers. In 2009, one of the organizers briefly joined a group which shall remain “unnamed”. It had many people of pure and unselfish motive and the entire organization appeared to have all the right motives. They had gathered as a Continental Congress and put together a set of documents which they were planning to bring to federal and state government representatives. So far so good! At the last minute, the approved, ratified documents were swapped to include wording which promoted the “unnamed” group, and the national leader of the “unnamed” group, along with promotion of Christianity. The organizer of Grassroots USA bowed out of the “unnamed” group due to this unexpected switcharoo. They had taken an extremely wonderful idea which had been worked on over many months, by many people, and perverted it. That experience with the unnamed group was disappointing when the hidden motives of self-promotion emerged.
However, the biggest news is this. CHECK THIS OUT! On the day before the documents were to be delivered across the country, police agencies began to spread secretive national alerts to all other police agencies telling police to keep their eyes on all people who approach statehouses and capitol buildings. The communication actually called this group of concerned Americans a terrorist organization!
At this writing, there are only 36 hours until the end of 2010, and the beginning of 2011. That is the current status of where Americans stand. We have been stomped on by an agressive police state rooted in tyrrany. These are crazy times. Former Congressman Bob Etheridge assaulted a student reporter on a sidewalk in Washington DC, and later lost a re-election to a Tea Party candidate who, for months, talked about the building of a mosque near “Ground Zero” in Manhattan, as though that was an issue that needed national attention, rather than any issue of real substance. These false issues are distractions intended to incite emotional loyalty of masses of people who do not realize what the real issues are.
The mission of Grassroots USA is to refocus people on the real issues which demand national attention and state attention. At the top of those issues are complex economic issues, but to understand summaries of them is not so complicated that people should avoid them simply because they are not economists.
Let’s simplify things. For example, everyone should realize that when wealthy profiteers gamble and lose, that is no reason for everyone, including future generations of Americans, to go into debt and devalue the dollar in order to bail them out. For another example, everyone should understand that if you ask for more checkpoints, you are asking for the expansion of a police state. These things are obvious, and should be principles that are easy enought to understand. There should not be debate about them, but there is. The reason is that there are two generations of Americans who have been told that safety is the only thing that matters, and to achieve safety, we must have a strong, controlling police state keeping their eye on everyone. Bush used the same fear tactics in promoting the Iraq War. Knowing that the people fear for their safety, he preyed on that fear. As a result of fighting two wars at once, without a huge coalition of support, the nations economy has gone into the hopper, and we are more vulnerable than if Bush had committed troops to securing the ports and borders.
People, please open your eyes. Temporary safety is not worth the end of liberty and freedom. The New World Order plans of President George H.W. Bush are only intended to enrich the corporations and the lives of the wealthy, and increase the income gap so that the middle class is eliminated / enslaved with no possibility of either you or your children and grandchildren ever getting out of debt, because whatever fiat money you have or plan to have will be so devalued. I’ll shut up if you prove to me that the Trilateral Commission and the Federal Reserve Bank and IMF never extracted all the gold out of Fort Knox. It should be easy enough to prove that the national gold bullion reserves was never turned over to the Fed in payment for paper. It is suspected that most of the bullion was shipped out of the country, to European bankers, long ago. Audit Fort Knox!
Thanks to all in the Grassroots USA network that is trying to educate people about the realities that this is no longer the America we called the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. It has ALREADY developed into a tyrranical regime. The proof of that is that the government is no longer representative of the people. That is what we require. An end to government corruption, accountability of government officials, truth, transparency, auditing, and go back to doing the bidding of the people, for the people.
